What is love?

All you need is love... everyone knows that lovely Counter Culturally aged tune by a band that I have grown to "love" over my years here on this Earth, The Beatles. Question is, what is love?. Many people have a definition of what they think it is.. but the truth is, some of them are wrong.

As we learned in elementary school that kids, mostly the girls, are very mean and 2 plus 2 equals 4. There is a right and wrong answer to that question. Relativity and moral stand point has nothing to do with that- as it doesn't in many other subjects that people would disagree on, but that is not where this post is heading.

Fact is there is a right and a wrong.

So what is the right and the wrong definition of love. Yes, yes, there are more than one ways to love a person. Some people prefer to see love a certain way. But the definition of art and what art looks like are two very different things.

So often I hear people say that Christians don't really know what love is. And I have heard that Christians know love better than other religions like Muslim... (which are are relative statements)... Some say to get to real love you have to drop religion all together, which in some form I think is correct.

But tell me, what is love?

Before we come with way to do it effectively or get the nerve to tell someone that they don't do it right or enough. Tell me what is first... Please.

Do not Stand on My Grace and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

Glass of Water Anyone?

There are so many things that our culture takes for granted. I know, that is a tag line that is used so much it has definitely lost its meaning.

I am the type of person that takes other people’s problems and where them as a sweater. Then when my own problems seem to pile up sometimes the only think I know to do is shower. That is my release moment. I tell myself the same words that were used to soothe May in the Secret Life of Bees, “Just let the problems roll off your back like the water.” It helps and every time I find myself praying for the people who don’t have the opportunity to detox and recenter.

A couple of years ago I found out that there are some people in the world that are so dehydrated they can’t even cry. Most people in our culture see crying as a weakness, as something you would never want anyone to ever see you doing- and in other countries crying is right. One that is gained through the simple right of water and even taken away by a rank, a rank that will kill you for even trying to show emotion.

Charity : Water has given us a chance to give a basic right to those who need it by giving away your birthday. This year I am giving away my 20th birthday (and what would be Elvis’ 76 birthday) for this cause! If every single one of my friends gives a dollar, I will surpass my goal or $1000.

Give what you can – 1, 10, 20: every penny will count!
Make Me (and Elvis) proud!
